How to Change How Your Website Appears on Google
Now that your website is finally showing up on Google, you may have spotted a few issues with how things are displayed. Mainly your meta title and descriptions - maybe you didn't customise them at launch or have now spotted a spelling error but have forgotten how to change these settings in the backend of your website.
Not to worry! Changing things isn’t as technical or time consuming as you might think, especially if you follow my concise video tutorial.
Before we get into how to change things, first let’s cover how to see how all of your website pages are showing up on Google.
How does my website appear on Google Search?
A quick trick to see how your website appears on Google involves just one Google Search.
Copy and paste the following into your Google Search bar, but swap our my website URL for your own.
site:highflyingdesign.com
If nothing comes up, your site isn’t currently indexed on Google.
To get your website indexed on Google, you’ll need to submit your sitemap to Google through Google Search Console. To do this, you’ll need your sitemap URL, this will be as follows:
https://highflyingdesign.com/sitemap.xml
But again, swap out my website URL for your own. Scroll down to the bottom of this in-flight magazine to find a quick video tutorial on this.
If your site is already indexed, you should see a list of website pages from your website.

If you’d like to change any of the titles or descriptions featured within this list (and if you’re reading this, then chances are you do), it is feasible through the backend of your website.

To be completely transparent: for every 1000 Google clicks, we have received 14 clicks from Bing, 5 clicks from Ecosia, 4 clicks from Yahoo and 1 click from DuckDuckGo.
You will find more success focusing on Google and two social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) of your choice. Remember, it’s always best to optimise what you’re already doing instead of jumping on what is trendy right now.
